Let me introduce you to my little friend, Nola. Take a good look at this face because I am certain that one day she will be famous. She is a healthy vibrant almost five year old and in this photo she is rocking my favorite color. Wondering why she is a warrior? This girl just hit her one year cancer free mark. That’s right, at the age of two she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. So rare that I can’t even pronounce it AND she is the only pediatric case…as in ever. There is no known treatment for this type of cancer and especially for a person so young.
Here are a few photos of her during treatment. She lost her hair as you can see, but never her spirit. She was (and still is) brave and courageous all while dealing with surgeries, body scans, a port in her chest and constant poking and prodding for over a year. She was lucky enough to get into a drug trial for treatment. Between the treatment and a heavy dose of energetic healing, today, Nola has no evidence of disease.
I’m telling you all this because I didn’t realize how little funding there is for research on rare cancers, and so I am riding and fundraising for an amazing organization that helps fund rare cancer research that help people like this cutie.
Cycle for Survival is the movement to beat rare cancers. Our high-energy indoor team cycling events provide a tangible way for you to fight back—100% of all money raised directly funds lifesaving rare cancer research.
I have already donated to the cause myself and I will be riding on Saturday January 26th. Will you join me by making a donation? Here is a little more information:
50% of People with Cancer Have a Rare Cancer
When combined, about half of all patients fighting cancer are fighting a rare cancer. These are cancers we know — such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian, brain, pancreatic, and all pediatric cancers — yet research is largely underfunded.
100% Goes to Lifesaving Research Led by MSK
Every dollar you give will advance innovative studies and clinical trials led by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Discoveries made by MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, helping patients across the country and around the world.
6 Months for Fast Impact
Not only does every dollar go to research, your gift will be in the hands of doctors and researchers within six months of the events. As a donor, you will learn about the projects supported and the breakthroughs made.
Every bit counts. Even if it’s just your daily coffee fix of $5. I want to see other warrior kids like Nola get the treatment they need to live rich, abundant and wild lives! I ride for Nola. I give for Nola. Will you?
